2015: PDP Plots To Take Over Lagos

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP) Lagos chapter on Saturday said that its closed door meetings with the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur on Friday, was to strategise on the 2015 governorship elections in Lagos.
Tukur held secret closed door meetings with the Lagos State Executives of the PDP, a few other selected leaders of the party in Lagos and the South West Caretaker Committee of the Party were present at the  meeting which actually took place at the Dominion Lounge within the
MMA in Lagos.
In a statement  issued by the PDP Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, the party stated that the impromptu meeting was to re-assure the state of the support of the National chairman ahead of the 2015 Governorship election.
“Hitherto, there were speculations that the National Working Committee of the PDP had dissolved the Tunji Shelle led state executive due to alleged factional interests.
“The National Chairman’s visit and the presence of party leaders in the state like the former Minister for Works, Chief Seye Ogunlewe has vindicated the state exco that the statusquo is intact and that the party remains united in Lagos” the party stated.
The Party also disclosed that the National Chairman had charged the Leaders to maintain the unity in the party and to ensure that aggrieved members that may have left the party in the past were brought back to its fold.
The State chairman, Tunji Shelle expressed his desire to be the State Chairman to Win lagos State from ACN. He appealed to all members to “forget and forgive themselves as the Unity of the Party is germaine to winning the State from the fatigued leadership of the ACN”
“We left the meeting with a greater resolve to work as a family so as not to disappoint the people of Lagos who have for so long agitated for a change of government at the state level.
“We wish to re-assure our teeming supporters that the PDP is determined more than ever to take over power in Lagos come 2015 and to ensure grassroots  development in all parts of the state” the PDP further stated.
According to the Party, nothing can be more assuring than to know that the Lagos Leadership has the support and blessings of its national leaders.
“We appeal to any aggrieved member that may have backslided from the activities of the party to please come back home”
“We also welcome people from other political parties willing to join us and we assure that all members, new and old will be treated with the same love and fairness for which the party is known” it added.
